Reflections For This Meeting:

These paddles are much more fun to build than the ones from last year!

This morning, Gavin, Karl and myself met at the house early and got to work. Mostly we worked on figuring out the spitter paddles. The original plastic ones we had built didn't have enough force to successfully 'spit' the batons up over the cliff. Since we realize the new intake, we don't have to eject them as fast and so we cut it down to one paddle - which gave us more flexibilty on the placement of the paddle. It ended up longer, but shoots the batons further- which is what we wanted. We tried several different concepts of shapes and pressed them around the axel of the spitter gear, rather than a different spoke.

Here I am inserting one of our first paddle ideas into the flipper.

Karl is shaving down the paddle to try and get a better working shape.

We cut the edges of the paddle until we got a length that would work through our opening - but still shoot as far as we wanted.

Gavin and I are testing out the paddles to see if we can get the batons up over the bridge.

Here is yet another paddle concept - we tried out during the day.

These are all the paddle designs and concepts that we built and tested during the day. All of these are good paddles - and work - the longest having the most power.
